Who started CaptivMart?
A Bangladeshi Canadian founder who grew up between two worlds: the jute fields and busy markets of Bangladesh, and a new home in Canada. CaptivMart brings the two together. It honours the golden fibre of Bangladesh and makes gifts that hold the memories of families here.
Why jute?
Jute is called the golden fibre of Bangladesh, and it has been woven by hand there for generations. It grows quickly with little water, it is fully biodegradable, and it is strong. We believe in goods that are handcrafted and made to last, and jute is exactly that.
Who makes the jute?
Our totes and bags are handwoven by artisans in Bangladesh. We work with small workshops, pay for the craft, and want every bag to carry a little of that heritage. As the collection grows, we'll share more of their stories here.
What happens in Canada?
Everything personal. We design your photo and text, send a proof for you to approve, then sublimate, finish, quality-check and pack every piece by hand in Canada. Canadian orders ship domestically, and US orders ship from Canada.
Where do your materials come from?
Honest answer: the jute is from Bangladesh. The metal blanks and sublimation inks come from suppliers in Canada and abroad. Every piece is personalized and finished by hand in Canada.
