Privacy Policy

CaptivMart ("we", "us") runs captivmart.com and makes personalized metal photo gifts and jute goods in Canada. This policy explains how we handle personal information under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), applicable provincial privacy laws, and, for US customers, applicable state privacy laws.

What information do we collect?

• Pre-order requests: name, email, phone number (optional), country, postal code, the products you chose, and any notes.
• Personalization: photos you upload and the names, dates or messages you want printed.
• Messages: what you send through our contact form, email or social media.
• Newsletter: your email address, if you sign up.
• Payment: we don't take payment on this website. When you pay later through the secure link we email you, your card details go directly to the payment processor and we never see or store them.
• Device and usage data: pages visited, device type and approximate location, collected by analytics and advertising cookies only if you accept them.

Why do we use it?

• To reply to your pre-order with a delivery date, send your design proof, take payment and ship your order.
• To answer your questions and provide customer service.
• To send marketing emails, only if you subscribed. Every email has an unsubscribe link, in line with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL).
• If you accept cookies: to understand how the site is used and to measure and improve our ads.
• To meet legal, tax and accounting obligations and prevent fraud.

What cookies and tracking do we use?

Essential storage keeps your cart, currency choice and cookie choice working. These can't be switched off.

With your consent only, we use Google Analytics (site usage statistics) and the Meta Pixel (measuring Facebook and Instagram ads). These let Google and Meta receive information such as pages viewed and actions taken on our site. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. You can also control ad personalization in your Google and Meta account settings.

Who do we share it with?

We never sell or rent your personal information. We share it only with service providers who help us run the business, under contracts that limit their use of it:

• our website hosting and database providers;
• our email delivery provider, which sends order and proof emails;
• payment processors, when you pay by the link we send;
• shipping carriers, who receive your name, address and phone to deliver your order;
• Google and Meta, for analytics and advertising, only if you accept cookies.

Some of these providers may store or process data outside your province or country, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

How long do we keep it?

• Photos you upload: kept only as long as needed to make your order and handle any remake or reorder, then deleted. Ask us any time and we'll delete them sooner.
• Order records: kept for as long as tax law requires (in Canada, generally six years).
• Newsletter email: until you unsubscribe.

What are your rights?

You can ask to access, correct or delete your personal information, withdraw consent to marketing or cookies, or ask how your data has been used. Email hello@captivmart.com and we'll respond within 30 days. If you're not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your provincial privacy regulator.

How do we protect it?

We use encrypted (HTTPS) connections, access-controlled systems, and give access only to the people who need it to fulfil your order. No system is perfectly secure, but we'll notify you and the regulator if a breach creates a real risk of significant harm.

Children

Our site is not directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you upload a photo of a child, you confirm you're their parent or guardian or have their permission.
