Metal Print vs Canvas vs Poster: Which Wall Art Should You Choose?

· CaptivMart

Choose a metal print for bright colour, deep blacks and a rigid panel that needs no frame. Choose canvas for a soft, textured, painterly look. Choose a paper poster when budget matters most and you plan to frame it. CaptivMart makes metal prints only, so this guide explains where metal fits best.

What is a metal print?

A sheet of aluminum with a coating that the image is infused into with heat. Ours have a high-gloss finish. Because the image is part of the coating rather than printed on top, it won't peel or scratch off easily, and there is no paper to curl.

How does a metal print look compared with canvas?

Metal looks bright and glossy, with deep blacks and vivid colour. Canvas has a woven texture and a matte surface, which softens the image. Night scenes, neon, cars and dark-coated pets suit metal. Soft portraits and painterly styles often suit canvas.

Is a metal print better than a poster?

It depends on what you want. A paper poster is usually the cheapest option but needs a frame and glass to stay flat. A metal print is a rigid panel that hangs flat or leans on a shelf with no frame needed. Our Night Squad designs are made as 12×18 metal posters for that reason.

Which is easiest to look after?

A metal print. Wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Indoor use is recommended for panels and prints. There is no glass to clean and no paper edge to curl.

Which should I pick for a gift?

For a pet, car or night scene, metal makes the colours stand out. Use a 12×18 wall print for a big statement, or a 5×7 or 9×12 metal photo panel for a shelf or smaller wall. Every personalized piece gets a proof before we print.
